The Dayton Lady Broncos stamp their ticket to the regional semifinals with their win tonight over Huntsville 8-4.
The Lady Broncos pitching and defense has shined in this series making big play after big play. Tonight, the Lady Broncos used the long ball to move on to round 4 of the playoffs.
‘23 Emma Pierce went 1-3 at the plate and had a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 5th to extend the lead to 4-1.
‘24 Mika Anthony-Conner followed suit in the bottom of the 6th with a towering 3-run shot to centerfield to give the Broncos an 8-1 lead as the Broncos never looked back!
Coach Moss talked postgame about ‘25 Madi Alvarado and her pitching performance going 14 innings and allowing 3 earned runs in the series.
“I can’t say enough about Madi. She was unbelievable in the circle the entire series. She probably didn’t have her best stuff tonight but she just continued to locate and was able to add the change up in tonight more often to get soft contact and keep their lineup off balance. She has grown up so much in these last three weeks and that is something that she should be very proud of,” Moss said.
Coach Moss spoke on the fans showing up to support the Broncos. “I can’t thank our community enough. It is a humbling thing to see how much pride we have in little ole Dayton! Everyone who was there shares in this victory because we in essence are just one big family. Even more than that, it is so special for our young ladies to celebrated for their accomplishments and who better to do that with than your family. Personally I want to thank everyone who showed up and showed out, it meant the world to the girls and I,” Moss added.
Now the Lady Broncos will await the schedule for the Regional Semifinals round‼️ Congrats to all the athletes and coaches on their Regional Quarterfinals Championship‼️@Dayton_Broncos1
