@D3Direct So, I am guessing that there is roughly 2000 basketball playing seniors (out of over 3000) in Florida per year that want to play in college.
How many international and other American students want to live and play in Florida on top of that?
@D3Direct And you have to include internationals. Here is one that plays on what you said. US there are over 37K public/private high schools & 990 spots roughly in D1. HS team averages 3 seniors. Over 111000 for those spots. Consider other levels
Below is Florida
@D3Direct We have a total of 234 openings for graduating seniors. Just in FHSAA alone there are 705 high schools. That doesn't count all of the non-fhsaa members. Even if each high school had only one senior, there are NOT enough spots available. A large portion have to go out of state.
@D3Direct SAs that want to stay in FL for college and won't consider out of state. There are 42 four year colleges with an average of three seniors per year. So, we have 126 openings. Also, there are 18 jucos with an average of six sophomores moving on for a total of 108.
People say they have a master's degree & aren't getting hired. They never tell you what that degree is.
If you are going to college, get a degree in something that is relevant. Underwater basket weaving isn't it.
Know the salary of the position you're going to eventually get.
According to the NCAA, 3.6% of men playing high school basketball will play in college, while 4.5% of women high school players will play in college. Most of them won't play Division I, and many scholarships only cover a small part
Look at all levels NAIA, USCAA, NCCAA and JuCo
