Auburn High School Tigers Athletics - 7A Girls' Outdoor Track and Field State Champions
Auburn High School won its first AHSAA girls’ outdoor track and field championship since 1986 Saturday at Gulf Shores, ending Hoover’s run of five straight Class 7A titles.
Auburn’s Katherine Lee won Saturday’s 100-meter hurdles in 14.58 seconds, McKensie Register finished second, and Victoria Weeden finished fifth, earning 22 points in the event for the Tigers. That proved critical as Auburn finished the three-day event at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex with 112.5 points, followed by Hoover with an even 100 points. Auburn’s championship stood out Saturday as the Tigers ended Hoover’s five-year reign as the 7A girls’ team champs. In fact, Hoover has won every team title in the state’s largest classification except one since 2012.

It’s been an AHSome ride coaching track at AHS. I’ve loved every minute of it.

Shoutout to Dee Oliver, Coach Norton, and the best staff around for this incredible journey.
