Someone asked me if I care more about velocity or throwing strikes.
The simple answer is neither.
I care about you getting outs. Doesn’t matter how you do it, you just need to get outs.
Free bases don’t win baseball games.
From a defensive perspective, if we have bases loaded 0 outs the MAXIMUM amount of runs we can give up and consider it a defensive win is 2.
On the flip side, from an offensive perspective the MINIMUM amount of runs we should expect to score is 3

With guys on base we need to vary our looks.
Guy on first: work slide step/ vary length in set position
Guy on second: mix looks/ timing
Guy on third: (yes we still need to look at him)
Do not repeat 2 different looks in a row. Be sure to change it up every pitch!
As a Yankees fan, I loved to watch the comeback.
As a pitching guy, this is a worst case scenario.
Pitchers, you need to keep you foot on the gas and avoid big innings like this after your team puts up 7 in the first inning.

Multiple factors could’ve played into why this specific pitcher was injured.
There are many ways that we can prevent injury. Be sure to do your own research and find what works best for you.
In a game that requires you to play everyday, sometimes twice a day, or pitch every 5 days, the best ABILITY you can have is AVAILABILITY.
Take the time to properly warm up and recover. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
Sometimes a rest day can be more beneficial than you think.
‼️FILL UP THE ZONE‼️
Here’s the break down of Paul Skenes strikes from tonight’s start
Pounds the zone with fastballs
Worked ahead with off speed
These pitches in the zone help effectively set up balls that start in the zone and end outside the zone for swings and misses
As a starting pitcher, 2 runs or less in your start is setting your team up for a chance to win a baseball game!
Although it’s nice to do, don’t put pressure on yourself to throw a complete game shutout.
Controlling the run game isn’t just about mixing up your pickoff moves.
- vary times to the plate
- hold your set position longer or shorter
- mix in a slide step or load and go
Not only can this help slow down the running game, but also make the batter uncomfortable
‼️Young pitchers‼️Body language plays a pivotal role in your “misses” do not let the hitter know your pitch was a miss
Lets use this to our advantage and help set up our next pitch to get back in the zone!
