The easiest and most controllable way to separate yourself this weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase is by showcasing yourself as an elite communicator.
There will be lots of playmakers, shot makers, great athletes, etc. Can you/will you communicate? Do you say the right things and get your teammates to listen?
There will always be a requisite level of skill, strength, and athleticism required. However, if you are communicating at a high level you will at LEAST catch the attention of someone out there for a few extra seconds.
Communication is an immediately transferable SKILL (yes, it is a skill) to the college level. It is in high demand, but also in low supply at the high school level. Let it be your differentiator.
NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson said the one constant among winning players is being willing to fail in the summer when nobody is watching.
Every failed rep forces you to adjust and figure it out, and that is exactly what builds the self belief that shows up when the lights come on.
Get uncomfortable early and often… that is how winners are built.
All 3 teams competed well today at Garrett! Middle school picked up a win, and JV and Varsity picked up 2 each. We had a lot of kids playing up today against older players and they handled it great.
