Two S.W.A.T. members, @AlexOlig & @chrisseaver13, are making the jump to the next level. Beyond honored to get to coach them these past two years. I know I give you both a hard time but you’ll never know how proud I am of you two. #SWAT#proudcoachmoment#fearthespear
The #1 job of a coach is to build a culture.
What is culture?
1. Culture is what you allow.
2. Culture is what you emphasize.
3. Culture is every day.
Your culture never arrives. Build it and clean it each and every day.
Culture Wins!
A serious question for parents…
If your child can’t handle a minor hardship as a teenager, how are they going to handle a real hardship later in life?
Don’t clear their path.
You steal their self-worth and feed your own.
Ask yourself: Will my decision help them in 10 years?
With the 10th pick in this year's Coaches Carousel Draft, The Pintos of California select Coach Zachary Thomas to lead the program into 2026. Coach Thomas previously served as Defensive Coordinator at Smith-Cotton for 2 seasons.
I LOVE Josh Allen at the podium. When your best player cares that much it matters. He knows he was below the line and it’s not on his teammates. That’s accountability. They put him in spots to win and he wasn’t his best self! Much respect!
The refs helped Denver a bit too!
You can’t build great teams on soft standards.
Hold the line.
Tell the truth.
Do what’s right, especially when it’s hard.
Players may not thank you now.
But one day, they’ll understand.
Tough teams separate themselves with 3 habits:
1. They communicate clearly.
2. They hold each other accountable.
3. They show up every day, no excuses.
It’s not just a mindset.
It’s a standard.
Talent is overhyped.
Championship teams are built on:
1. Showing up on time
2. Working hard
3. Being coachable
4. Earning trust
5. Embracing roles
6. Making winning plays
7. Positive energy
8. Clear communication
9. Tough under pressure
10. Team first
The little things win.
Tough teams do 3 things better than everyone else:
1. They communicate
2. They hold each other accountable
3. They keep showing up, no matter what
It’s not just a mindset.
It’s your standard.

Underrated skill for assistant coaches: Be low-maintenance, high-impact.
Bring solutions, not problems.
Be where your feet are.
Handle your role like it’s the most important on staff.
No ego. No drama. Just relentless value.
Great assistants make the whole program better.
Peyton Manning said, "The best teams that I played on our best players they were our hardest workers."
"They were the most unselfish. They put the team over self."
Great leaders lead by example.
They set the standard through their habits, actions, and attitude.
Assistant coaches are the ROCKS of a program.
What do they do?
1. Build great relationships w/players
2. Lighten the mood when needed
3. Bring positive energy every day
4. Support the head coach
5. Keep the team focused
6. Set the tone
Celebrate your Assistant Coaches! 🙌
