@JacobBrownDOC I don’t think it’s necessary to be condescending, Jacob. I think it’s important to keep your perspective open.
You recently said “The game changes, intelligent players adapt”. Couldn’t agree more.
Complaining culture isn’t a good look for anyone, especially coaches.
@JacobBrownDOC There are still plenty of ways the game could improve, in my opinion. Anything that allows the game to be played at a faster pace with more energy is a good thing, I feel. Five subs? Let’s go. An extra break? It doesn’t make the players worse, that’s for sure.
@JacobBrownDOC In the spirit of problem solving, it’s a challenge both coaches and players face, wouldn’t you say?
I think the implementation of VAR and now the attempt to prevent players delaying the game are positives. I don’t see this as much different. It’s just not normal to us, yet.

Curt Cignetti shares a universal truth about habits and consequences.
"In life - you got freedom of choice, but not freedom of consequence."
"First you form your habits, then your habits form you."
Every choice and action you take compounds. The small decisions you make daily - preparation, work ethic, and how you respond - those become your habits.
And over time, those habits become your identity.
You're free to choose. But the consequences of those choices aren't optional.
Your habits are shaping who you become.

Nick Saban shares a masterclass on team building and why mediocrity is contagious.
"You have goals, but these goals won't just be about you individually. One of the things on that pyramid of success I talk about is being a team."
Then he explained why team chemistry is so hard:
"Mediocre people don't like high achievers. And high achievers don't like mediocre people."
"So if everybody doesn't buy into the same principles and values of the organization and the same high standard, you're never gonna be successful."
That's the truth. You can't build chemistry with mixed commitment.
Then he shared his goal for spring practice:
"Get the right guys on the bus. Get them in the right seats. And get the wrong guys off the bus."
"Do you wanna be somebody they're trying to get off the bus because you're satisfied with mediocre performance?"
Every team member is either raising the standard or lowering it.
You're either all-in or you're out. There's no in between.
The most undercoached skill in your program?
Effort.
TJ McConnell said it best:
“I genuinely believe that playing hard is a skill, because if it wasn’t, everyone would do it.”
You can’t just demand it.
You have to develop it. https://t.co/8HikuTlZPU
