4th Annual Gridiron Football Coaching Clinic
Thanks to the 160+ coaches that participated in today’s clinic. It was a great day and a lot of coaches and football programs got better.
We will see all of you next year!
@FearTheWing But also the information that the kids get might just be a grade (which means nothing to them) or a quick good job or correct this. Needs to translate to the field and their minds. They need our comments quicker!
@FearTheWing But also not just something that helps coaches but also is quicker to the kids! Sometimes it’s coaches watching film on Saturday and Sunday and the players not hearing anything or seeing anything (besides highlights) until Monday. They are a technology drive generation!
Congratulations to the Strasburg Wrestlers on winning the Region 2B Championship today by advancing 12 wrestlers to next week's State Tournament! Congrats to Hutson Conrad on being named the Region 2B Wrestler of the Year!

Christmas gift idea for sports people:
In 1980, my high school won its first Virginia State Football Championship, beating Park View Sterling, led by future Notre Dame and Houston Oilers RB Allen Pinkett. I was four years old.
The Spartans were a bunch of farm boys, with one exceptional running back talent, coached by a 28-year old coach’s son who taught math and never played football himself, but had a penchant for demanding adult accountability and sacrifice from 16-year olds. (I lived it)
The Giles High program had never won anything. Nothing.
At the time that ‘80 title was the biggest thing that ever happened in my hometown. Might still be.
Author Jeremy Haymore spent years researching the 1980 GHS season to pen Bandana Express.
It’s an awesome (and true) tale of a town, a team, a time that inspired an entire Appalachian region.

Despite being one of the busiest personalities in sports media, Marty has always made time for his hometown. He has helped me tremendously with The Bandana Express over the last year and a half, including writing a fantastic foreword. With that, I say THANK YOU, @MartySmithESPN! You are first class, brother! 🫡
Strasburg’s Class 2 State Championship coaching staff featured 2 former JMU National Champions, Tight End Jonathan Kloosterman (‘16) and Long Snapper Josh Haymore (‘04) . Still wearing purple and winning! @CurtDudley@KevinAWarner@JMUSportsNews@JMUsportsblog@JMUSoundOff
It's championship Saturday in Salem! Good luck to football as they take on Glenvar at 11:30 am in Salem in the VHSL Class 2 State Championship! Thank you to the community of Strasburg for helping to provide items for today's travel! #rampride
