FUN FACT FRIDAY: Polk State Softball has achieved its highest win total in 10 years
There are still six games remaining in the regular season, but the 2025 season has been one to remember for Polk State Softball. After nine straight losing seasons, the Eagles enter the final 10 days of the regular season with a 27-26 record.
For Polk State, the 27 wins is the most for the program since 2015. The Eagles are not only winning games this year, but they're doing it against the nation's best. With three doubleheaders remaining -- all against nationally ranked teams -- Polk State already has five wins over nationally ranked competition. That includes three wins over programs currently ranked in the top 10 and a 3-1 victory over then No. 1 Indian River State College on Feb. 25.
Under second-year Head Coach Kevin Lewis, Polk State features a versatile lineup and a deep pitching staff. Led by Karyna Lewis, Nayeli Hernandez, and Chelsi Rae' Hebert, the Eagles currently have six players hitting at least .324. From the circle, Jamie Reinhardt, Tessa Anderson, and Dee Allen each have logged at least 73 innings, and each have at least seven wins.
Polk State, however, may not be done accomplishing big things. In addition to their highest win total since 2015, the Eagles are still mathematically alive for a berth in the FCSAA Tournament. By going 3-3 the rest of the way, Polk State would have its first winning season since 2015 and would hit 30 wins for the first time in 11 years.
After batting .388 with two home runs and 15 RBIs in 16 games this past month, Polk State Softball sophomore outfielder Chelsi Rae' Hebert has been named our Eagle of the Month for March. https://t.co/V1SaDwjA3N

FUN FACT FRIDAY: Hebert has highest home run total for Polk State Softball in six years
The season is only halfway over for Polk State Softball, but outfielder Chelsi Rae' Hebert has emerged as one of the best power hitters for the program in quite some time.
A redshirt sophomore from Louisiana, Hebert leads the Eagles with six home runs this season -- good for sixth in the FCSAA. It's also the most for a Polk State player since 2019 when Destinee Jackson homered nine times.
In addition to the long balls, Hebert also leads the team in batting average (.436), slugging (.761), hits (40), triples (4), and RBIs (29). An All-Conference performer as a freshman in 2023, Hebert still has 30 regular season games remaining to showcase her power. No Polk State player has reached double digits in home runs since 2014 when Margaret Roberts (15), Kayla Montgomery (13), and Stephanie Koutsoumbaris (11) each accomplished the feat.
