If you have to script everything for your player, don't waste your time and resources chasing a dream they don't have. The player needs to lead their journey.
If your player isn't out in the yard, playing soccer by themselves, looking to get better each day on their own, working on their craft ... then they're not motivated enough to play club. Save your money and put it toward education, vacations, or retirement.
One of the biggest things I enjoyed while coaching was watching players implement pieces of practice into the game and then seeing their eyes light up realizing it works.
@RepLuna You know what else has caused the population decline? The ungodly taxes. People can’t afford to have kids. The American Dream has been killed by government greed.
@Gaelic_referee I understand that. I had a good connection with players, the parents poisoned the culture that had been achieved and players then stopped responding … stinks because we were getting so good.
@StephenChaconas Thank you, Stephen! Same. Hope to find another opportunity maybe as a ref, maybe another path … right now, it’s time to mentally recharge.

Made a tough decision this week ... decided to step away from coaching. Came down to a select group of parents being extremely toxic and the club not backing me in decisions that needed to be made to support a quality learning environment. Going through it for sure.
@coachmjohn8 Youth sports are losing so many coaches due to the toxicity of parents and the pressures to win at the cost of development. If another opportunity comes up down the road, I'll consider it.
@happymindsnow Agreed. Loved coaching, loved that team but it wasn't worth the mental health destruction that was happening because the club wouldn't make necessary decisions so I made one for myself. Thank you for the comment, means so much.
