#CoachingTip “Coaching requires a lot of time and sacrifices, but so does being a husband and father. It’s your responsibility as a man to find, establish and consistently maintain that balance. Marriage or fatherhood is not meant to be a routine outside of your career. Regardless of who you’ve worked for, read up on or studied to become a better coach, research and study who they are at home, not in the office. It’s hard for me to admire or respect a man as a leader who neglects the most important aspect of leadership in his life. Regardless of how successful they appear, don’t let no one fool you into thinking you have to be in the office all day or night in order to be an effective leader or coach. Those coaches are generally miserable people, who make everyone around them miserable as well. Your job will never apologize to your wife or kids for taking you away from them and it won’t apologize to you when they resent you for it. I’d rather be forgotten or not remembered as a coach, than resented or viewed as a failure as a husband or father.” #Ap2w
Today marks 16 seasons on the sidelines, 15 on the high school level. I’m blessed to have been allowed to contribute to this great sport every year since the age of 5. I’m thankful for every opportunity! To whatever the future holds, I am thankful!
I don’t need championship rings or titles. My championships are seeing the young people I’ve coached be successful in life. That’s my why! #PayItForward#WIN#LoveTheGame
