Coach K shares the difference between wanting to win and being prepared to win.
"The thing is to have the will to prepare to win. Preparation to win is much more important than the will to win."
Everyone wants to win. Few are willing to prepare like winners.
"But if you combine the preparation to win and the will to win - I get chills thinking about it - you got a chance, man. You got a chance."
"But the preparation is hard."
And then he asked the question that separates good from great:
"What do you do before you get here?"
The will to win is common - the will to prepare is rare.
Your ability to outperform comes from your ability to out-prepare and out-work people.

Our coach grew up a Duke fan as a kid, won a National Championship as a Duke player, and is now the head coach of the program. It just doesn’t get better than that.
The road to get to play college basketball has been long, challenging, and full of lessons, and I wouldn’t be here without the guidance, belief, and dedication from my teachers, hs coaches, aau coaches and my family! Thank you all for everything!
