US oil companies have made nearly $50 billion in additional profits since the Iran war started, benefiting more than any country in the world. I’m surprised how few people know this. The US is now the biggest oil and gas exporter in the world. (Graphic via @nytimes).

Dr. Meagan Turnbow to lead Rockvale High School
Turnbow succeeds Principal Steve Luker, who is retiring in June, and she wants to build off the school’s rich history and success to ensure students are fully prepared for life after high school

High school is a time when students make big decisions about their futures, and it may be the last time they have unfiltered access to a wide range of opportunities.
It’s for these reasons Dr. Meagan Turnbow has always been drawn to working as a high school educator because she knows it has a tremendous impact on students at such a pivotal time.
Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan has named Turnbow the next principal of Rockvale High School because of her vision for the school and her impressive record of high performance and results.
“Her proven experience at both the school and district levels gives Dr. Turnbow a unique advantage in leading a comprehensive high school,” Director Sullivan said. “As a member of the Rockvale community and with her own children attending Rockvale schools, she has a vested interest in continuing the school’s success and pursuing additional, unmatched opportunities for students.”
Turnbow currently serves as the coordinator for English as a Second Language, a role she has led with distinction. She previously served as an assistant principal at Riverdale High School.
As ESL coordinator, Turnbow was named as the Rutherford County Schools’ Supervisor of the Year in 2025, and she progressed to the semi-finalist level for Tennessee Supervisor of the Year.
“While I have truly valued my experience working with all 52 RCS schools in my central office role, there is something special about being part of your hometown team and seeing the students you serve every day,” Turnbow said, adding that she wants every student to leave Rockvale “a better person, fully prepared for success in college, career and life.”
Turnbow will succeed Steve Luker, who has served as the first principal of Rockvale High School since it opened in August 2019. During his tenure, Luker has worked to connect the school to its rich history, which includes a former Rockvale High School that served the community from 1927-1972.
“Mr. Luker did an exceptional job building this school from the ground up. I look forward to continuing his strong legacy by working closely with teachers, parents, students and the community to elevate an already outstanding school,” Turnbow said. “My first step will be to listen carefully to everyone. Together, we will shape the vision for the next chapter of Rockvale High School.”
Luker recently announced his retirement at the end of the current school year. Turnbow plans to meet with Luker immediately to gather his knowledge and work on a smooth transition plan, she said.
“Serving the school in my own community is truly an honor,” Turnbow said. “As both an educator and a parent here, I am committed to ensuring every student has meaningful opportunities. If they can dream it, together we can find a way to make it happen.”
Congratulations to Connor, Will and Ava for advancing to sectionals as individuals from the district tournament today. Came up 3 strokes short of a championship and 2 strokes short of advancing as a team, but over all a great day for Siegel Golf!
Walkoff in game two of the district tournament for the 4 run comeback. Bottom 7th, 2 outs. Great at bats from my teammates before me. @SiegelAthletics@tnballplayers

“I trusted in Him not just in the good, but in the bad [this season]. I understand that suffering is good for us, as followers of Jesus. I’m taking that into my next route in [pastoral] ministry - Just leading people by example, as a servant, like Jesus was.”

Johnston was wearing a “Jesus Wins” shirt too 👏
