@RidleyScouting The the Saskatoon Hilltops and the Regina Thunder would agree with this post. Both teams have a number of 6 and 9man players on their team.
@KievCocktail@FriedgeHNIC From what I understand seeding is done by pool placement first. So all the 1st place teams would be ranked higher then all second place teams and so on. Goal difference overall could then come in to rank those teams.
@Boivin2116@FriedgeHNIC The Italian game would only count for ranking purposes in terms of the overall seeding. When seeding teams the first tie breakers usually involve the results from the tied teams only.
@PuckReportNHL Outside of your range, but Saskatoon/Regina in 2010 had 301,944 (70-100% capacity), from Wikipedia. which would put it 3rd on your list. Here is what I think they need to do improve attendance
1. Lower ticket prices. No charging NHL+ prices for tickets.
2. Smaller venues.
@aewsshield @worldhockeyrpt I think that is correct. It looks like this past year the US switched Canada (5th in 2025) and Slovakia (6th in 2025) around. I do not think that they would be able to switch say Czechia (2nd this year) with Germany (9th this year).
@aewsshield @worldhockeyrpt The host country does have some leeway in terms of switching pools around. This happened in Buffalo 2018. Canada and the US should have been in different pools based on 2017, but Buffalo wanted an outdoor game between Canada and the US.
@petterssonsknee@MadelnCanada They could maybe do something with BMO Field. They are expanding it for the World Cup to get it to 45K people. Not if that is permanent or temporary. MLSE also runs that field.
@MadelnCanada This being said, maybe the Big O in Montreal could be a possibility. They are supposed to be fixing the roof, not sure if it would be retractable though. There would also be no other major tenant to competed with.
@MadelnCanada As they can not open the roof in the winter, see another comment for why, this can't happen in Jan. Really the only time it could happen would be in the spring (Mar-April), but I am not sure either team would want to a game like that so close to the end of the season.
@IanKennedyCK An idea could be though to have say a U24 tournament or something like that. This would allow more players a chance to play post College. Also give another tournament for other countries to develop a better National Team.
@IanKennedyCK I think it's been mentioned. It has to do with the talent pool. Outside of Canada and the US, maybe Finland and Sweden as well, most other countries would have some players playing in the U18s, U20 and the world's.
@mblairYQR@PierreVLeBrun Was there as well. Was sitting so high up at Sask Place, when my cousin and I waved our flags we were hitting the duct work at the top of the building.
Still on of my best live hockey memories.
@cammmelnyk@JohnDHodge For me the Stanley Cup playoffs will be a much bigger concern then MLB. Going by last season's NHL sched, week 1 of the CFL would go head to head with the tale end of the conference finals. MLB would only be a concern if the Jays are in it.
@AZadarski I would want to try and keep it some what geographical.
Portland: Pacific
Houston: Central
Indianapolis: Atlantic
Atlanta: Metro (if the NHL insists on this)
All large to good sized media markets, and would have built in good Geographical rivals.
@therealballsy@BallsyUncut I get he was MOP and this great don't get me wrong. Keply, Bass and Pless played when there was no way a defensive player was going to win MOP. Keply won 5 cups in a row.
