As a former catcher, and current catching coach, “UP!” is not the most helpful verbiage. Let us all help our teammates behind the dish out. Let’s use concise, clear, purposeful verbiage to DIRECT them towards the ball. Your catcher will thank you! 🤘🏼
@TheKateGentile Using a number system aligned with the bases (1,2, & 3) can be extremely helpful. Some substitute a “2” call with “back” as well. Much more efficient than “UP!” or simply pointing in the direction of the ball. Many correct ways to communicate across the diamond.
"We don't do that in our program."
"That's not good enough."
"We need more from you."
"We're better than that."
"You've got to step up."
"This can't happen."
When your athletes say these things
to their teammates, you've got:
- GREAT LEADERSHIP
- FULL ACCOUNTABILITY
