Great teams don’t rise to the occasion.
They fall back on their habits.
The ones built in the quiet.
In the boring reps.
In the everyday grind.
That’s how elite instincts are formed.
Not through hype.
But through consistency.
Train it. Repeat it. Trust it.
Let’s clear this up:
Drill - little to no resistance, technique focused
Play wrestling - light resistance, high paced action
Light spar - giving a feel through each position, mid resistance
Spar - mid-heavy resistance, less hand fight/downblocking, high action
Live - full go
Caden is a young man with very high character both on and off of the field! His effort and attitude is something that every high level coach dreams of in their players. A hard worker in the weight room & classroom! He has size, strength, and a very high football IQ! #NXTLVL2024
Super excited for Zyler! A Big asset for any program! Works hard in the weight room as well as the classroom! His effort and attitude will be just what he needs to play and succeed at the next level! High level character & High level Drive! #NXTLVL2024
Challenge yourself! When you're in cruise control find another variable to challenge yourself and your team! Success is the result of repeated intentional actions. Remember complacency kills the canary.

#Transformational coaching moment yesterday at our first summer practice:
A new sophomore, who had never played #football before and was new to the school, stepped onto the field without knowing a single person. The fear and anxiety in his eyes were palpable.
I met him at midfield, put my hand on his shoulder, looked him in the eyes, and said, “You look a little anxious. Don’t worry, everything’s going to be fine.
You might not know anyone, but now you know me. You might not know what to do, but I will show you. You’re going to make mistakes, and that’s OK.
Just give me your best effort and attitude, and the rest will fall into place.”
His demeanor changed completely. By the end of practice, with the support of a few other guys in his class, he was running around, learning, and having fun.
Coaches, remember that many of our players come to practice with heavy hearts. It’s our job to lift and build them up.
It’s so much fun getting to update yearly championship boards and records! A Huge thank you to Mark Kirk for doing such a wonderful job of searching and collecting stats from every year that Oklahoma has had wrestling! Sallisaw has so much to be proud of!
2025 C @ColeMayfield3 (Sallisaw) sees one deep into the zone but uses his hand strength to still shoot one thru the middle and break the 0-0 tie in the tip of the 4th
