I've spent a lot of time recently reading texts about deconstruction philosophy for a paper I am writing. The concept is complex & nuanced. So when I see someone say that people are deconstructing so they can sin more, I know they are rather intellectually unserious.
@thescottbarber Earlier this year the pastor of the church we were going to stated that the church would now be focusing more heavily on evangelizing because Jesus is coming back in the next 5 years. He had a verse, a bunch of words, and a hell video to watch. We do not go there anymore.
Dear Pastor,
There is a roaring tsunami of resentment from decades of racism, authoritarianism, sexism, and judgementalism that is going to pound the Church.
You will feel the blunt force of this pent up anger.
Receive it with a tender presence and a compassionate heart.

A quick thread on a thought I've had about abuse in the church and deconstruction.
After helping @NancyAFrench investigate Kanakuk and after looking deeply into scandals involving the SBC, Ravi Zacharias, Liberty, etc., I've noticed a pattern that crushes the spirit. /1
To the degree that we are unable to express our emotions, we remain impaired in our ability to love God, others, and ourselves well. Why? To cut our feelings out of our spirituality is to slice off an essential part of what makes us human.
