Here’s a drill to practice this by replacing the front foot with the back foot and accelerating to the QB.

🔥Young D-Linemen have no clue how to use their eyes.

They peek in the backfield thinking it will help them make plays, when actually…

…it gives their opponent full access to their chest.

Instead use your eyes to guide your hands into your opponent’s chest…

…THEN peek in your gap to locate the ball.

🔥Football is a game of leverage and angles.

That means the man who’s lower is going to win the battle for leverage 99.9% of the time.

Here’s an example of this from Geno Atkins.

🔥Many coaches use a hit or hut to start their drill work, but this is counter productive.

Instead use a visual cue (like the PVC pipe in the below drill) to trigger movement.

This programs your D-Line to be impervious to cadence and react only to a visual stimulus.
