We got a box here from right outside of Cleveland, Ohio!
Watch out for the BALDWIN WALLACE YELLOW JACKETS... they'll sting ya!
Thank you Coach Hilvert and @BWFootball_ for this great box! Go Jackets!
Arm strength for infielders should be viewed the same way we now view bat speed for hitters.
In the offensive world, bat speed isn’t just about hitting the ball harder—it allows hitters to make better decisions later. More time creates better outcomes.
The same principle applies defensively.
When an infielder has elite arm strength:
They can slow the game down
The margin for error increases
The player doesn’t need to rush
We often train infielders to “speed up,” when in reality we should be developing the tool that allows them to play under control
Tony Vitello on what beating the Dodgers to open up the series means for this team.
"It gives you permission to be confident. Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan... those guys don't need the win column or statistics or permission to be confident. It's an undying thing. That's ideal."
The 95 Indians had a 600 home run guy, two 500 home run guys, a 50 home run in one season (with 50 doubles) guy, a .300 hitting catcher, the third best leadoff hitter of the 90s, a platinum glove-caliber shortstop with 2800 career hits, and Dave Winfield sitting on the bench.
"We're not curing cancer here we're talking about hitting a line drive up the middle with a man on second base and two outs"
Jay Johnson says his team needs to be more mentally mature to be successful moving forward.
Clearly a huge emphasis on driving guys in as well.

Recommended to me in my first week at Driveline, The Inner Game of Tennis (1974) is still the most underused book in baseball. Here's why it matters for developing pitchers (a thread):

Swing Coach vs Hitting Coach: How does the job change in game? It’s a lot like a Caddie. Ted Scott talking about his job as a caddie: “You’re always trying to help your guy as a caddie to get in that frame of mind to potentially hit the best shot of his life,” Scott went on to explain. “It’s golf, you’re going to hit bad shots, but you don’t want to hit a bad shot without giving yourself the chance to hit a good one.”
Stephen Vogt on working with his own mental skills coach to help him manage the emotional load as a leader.
"I still have a personal mental skills coach that I speak with once a week…We all need somebody to throw our stuff on."
So much of coaching is spending your days clearing space for others, but who's helping you stay clear and free?
You can’t ask your players to invest in their own growth if you’re not doing the same.
If this resonates and you want a space like that, my DMs are open.
