Bittersweet announcement to share. Today I resigned as Head Boys Basketball Coach to accept the AD position at Meadowdale HS.
Going to miss coaching, and we have a great group of kids coming through these next few years, but fired up for the new gig!

Small fish compared to the other issues at play with this tournament, but the lack of attention to detail in scheduling is also alarming.
They’re making Monroe play Friday night (rather than Saturday) after making them be 5.5 hours from home on a Tuesday night.
Perhaps the 19-4 (now 20-4) Bearcats are not the 18th best team in the State.
Perhaps basketball north of Seattle isn’t a joke.
And now two District 1 teams have to play eachother on Friday to earn a T-Dome trip. One of them district champs, the other 20-4.
Cool tournament.
Clearly I’m the old man yelling at clouds.
Just wish cutting down the nets still meant something. But it didn’t for the Bearcats last year and it didn’t for the Stormrays this year. And that sucks.
Short rant this year. I’m tired.
Friendly reminder to the state seeding committees:
•No loser-out league matchups during regionals
•Reward district champions
That’s it. I hope my Twitter fingers can take the day off.
How naive I was 45 minutes ago.
•Shorewood not top 8 is a crime.
•Shorewood potentially playing Monroe to earn their T-Dome trip is a crime.
We just had district tournaments. This is where you eliminate your own.
Loser-out regional games should never be district games. 🤬
The Meadowdale Mavericks are 8-1, their best start to a season since their state tournament teams of 2009 and 2010. Read my story (and see my photos) of their big win over Blaine yesterday here. #wabkbscores#wiaawa https://t.co/CI1F9t6M3X
29th Annual Youth 🏀 Camp! S/o to the high school boys and girls players who did a tremendous job as coaches this week for our 136 campers across 3 sessions! #GoMavs
Trip was a big success! Thankful for this group of kids and our Mav community, whose consistent support of our fundraising efforts helped make this possible. #GoMavs
Every kid who comes into your program has a story. Some carry dreams, some carry doubts, some carry heartbreak.
Your job isn’t just to coach the player—they need you to believe in the person. If you only focus on X’s and O’s, you miss the whole point.
Every varsity athlete has been able to know “today is my last game ever” - outright, or if they lose. That’s been taken from the seniors on Jackson, Gig Harbor, & Ballard.
Lights going out is not WIAA’s fault. But the inability to find a solution is. Play the games anywhere.
