As a coach you sign up to teach guys about a game but it always ends up with those young men teaching me about so much more than a game. The heart and pride that they put in to this program is amazing. Our year didn’t end with achievement of our ultimate goal, but it was an...
T-SHIRT TUESDAY...
Repetition builds strength.
Not just physically… but mentally.
High performers don’t get bored with the basics… they get better at them—over and over again.
Because repetition creates resilience.
It sharpens your skills.
And it builds unshakable confidence.
And it’s not just about performance…
There’s real fulfillment in putting in the reps—earning your growth, one day at a time.
You don’t rise to the moment.
You rise to your repetition.
Stay consistent.
Serve first. Win later.
Most people want it the other way around.
“Your job is not to be here for yourself. It is to be here for everybody else.”

Want to win close games in March? Be boring.
- play off two feet in the paint
- throw on-target passes
- hit free throws
- take on balance, great shots
- finish around the rim
- secure rebounds with two hands
- don’t gamble on defense
Boring is cool. Boring wins.
Before he was a two-time MVP… before he changed the game…
He was a college counselor who refused to leave the gym until he swished 5 free throws in a row.
Change is hard. Not because we can’t do it—but because we fear discomfort.
We crave progress, but resist the process.
Growth demands we leave comfort zones. And that’s uncomfortable.
But here’s the truth: discomfort is not the enemy. It’s the path.
Every elite performer, team, and leader I’ve ever worked with embraced the uncomfortable. They trained through it. They leaned into it.
The question isn’t can you change.
It’s—are you willing to get uncomfortable enough to grow?
High school basketball success is simple:
- Sprint the floor like your life depends on it.
- Dive for loose balls without hesitation.
- Clap for your teammates like they just hit the game-winner, every time.

The scoreboard doesn’t care about your intentions.
Your competitors don’t care about your excuses.
And your potential doesn’t care about your promises.
So here’s the question:
Are you committed to the process… or just attached to the outcome?
Talk is easy.
Do the work.

Couldn’t be prouder of the boys and our parents/community as @edcovikings hosted and worked a great youth basketball tourney today as well after a busy week. Thank you to all and let’s keep stacking Ws! #GoodBetterBest
This reflected a fun and exciting week from all sports perspectives for me. @edcovikings boys basketball team was resilient this week. We didn’t play as good as we could have at times but the guys just kept on coming to earn 3 wins. Belief, determination, and always next play!!
