@HonoluluBlues_ I'm wondering if it was just so late that the officials in NY had gone to sleep. Since no one was working the replay booth, they just went with what was called on the field.
@TigersData The one from last night was to get McGonigle a fresh at bat vs someone other than Hancock. He had already struggled against him and was down 0-2.
@MikeFer75182733@bythewaybro Miller is actually on the 40 man, so it isn't our of the realm of possibility. However, he has never pitched above AA. Harris did say that they though internal candidates would have a chance. I believe that means Flaherty, JV, Brieske, SGL and Jobe. But who knows.
@NatSparbeck Agreed. I think they are hoping that JV can come back, and, if so, he and Ryan will take the 2 open spots and Montero and Jobe will go to the bullpen. I would also look to maybe see Sears and SGL come up, as well. Especially if Sears gets a spot on the 40 man.
@BenVerlander Flaherty took his player option because he wasn't going to get $20M anywhere, especially after going 8-15 with a 4.64 ERA last year. He's still here because no one else wanted that albatross of a contract for a guy who is 3-8 and looks like he's arguing with himself on the mound
@TigersData I don't think he's punting. Not saying it won't be more difficult, but I am thinking the rotation/long arms in the BP will be something like Valdez, Melton, Keider, Flaherty, Gibson-Long, Jobe, JV, and hopefully Jake Miller or Sears.
@Stallion2011@BenVerlander And then in Skubalโs case, watch that same GM give 2x what they were saying you were worth toโฆ<check notes>โฆFramber Valdez.
@Stallion2011@BenVerlander The GMs for both teams put the screws to their best player/captain in contract negotiations and then wonder why neither want to stick around.
@Miggysbat@detveverybody01 Just like none of us know that โit was a clear indication that he didnโt want to be hereโ. Look at how CI runs both of his teams. Lowball your best players to pinch pennies. Truth is:If you can pay Valdez $38M you can pay Skubal $40M.
@DarkoStateNews You don't know what else was offered. It is entirely possible that someone offered better futures, but Harris wanted someone who could step into the rotation that was a lesser prospect. While Ryan is a top 100 player, he is 28 coming off TJ. So basically he is an unproven Mize.
