We made it! Our pilgrimage in Spain was 90 miles, 200,000 steps and 30,000 calories over six days. Our group of eight friends accomplished a goal … most of us seniors, the goal was lofty and the challenge demanding.
But hey, I’m a life long football coach who loves nothing more than the lofty goal, the demanding challenge.

From the very first day when we got lost which added two extra miles onto our twenty mile day of brutal elevation changes, to the special celebrations at the end of the day … our group relied on each other. We became a team and picked each other up And at the end of it all we grew as individuals within our team.

If you have the opportunity to challenge yourself on the Camino to Santiago de Compostela then I encourage you to go for it. But if you’re not able …. go ahead and chase those challenges in your orbit.

Final Dress Rehearsal

Tomorrow my wife and 6 friends go to Portugal to hike the Camino to Santiago de Compostela, Spain along with 350,000 other pilgrims who will make this trek this year.

Biergarten at Disney World Epcot. It’s not like the schnitzel at Sophienkeller or Pauliner in Dresden …. But my waitress was from Cologne and knew how to make a Radler. And the bratwurst was good but not like the altmarktkeller

Sadly no lingonberry jam for the sweinschnitzel. Americans put ketchup on schnitzel and my German friends would cringe

But it’s actually the best German meal I’ve had since Dresden

Nick Mangold … came to my linemen camp when he was a soph in HS. Years later ran into him at the Pro Bowl.

He asked if I recalled telling him to work hard cuz someday he will play on Sundays. I denied it. No way would I say that to a HS kid. … apparently I did. RIP Nick

Independent Hands Pass Pro Techs

The "2 Hand Puncher" Coaches hate me, but that's ok. I've been teaching these "radical" pass pro techs for over 30 years. In fact before I retired, PFF had graded QB pressures starting in 2001 and over those 17 years our Bengals OL led the league in fewest pressures.

Don’t throw your head SO FAR BACK unless you want put your weight on your heels and expose your chest. Weight on heels prevents simultaneous anchor and foot mvmt

Keep the natural head, shoulders, hips and knee posture as much as possible as you’re covering him with your feet.
