In my Modern Soccer Coach podcast interview I shared how we push footballers with challenging drills:
โThis isnโt going to be fun at first. Itโs difficult.โ But thatโs where improvement happens.
Our mantra? โEasy is boring.โ ๐ช

Thank you @BartHeuvingh & @AZAlkmaar for taking time to read Inspiring Young Minds.
AZโs Academy has been one of my favorite academies in since visiting there a few years ago.
I love their philosophy around growth mindset (which I discuss in the book)

Hearing a lot of coaches complaining that "this generation doesn't want to learn".
Pure excuses.
For millennia people have been saying that the next generation is broken. WE the coaches have to adapt, it is OUR responsibility. Be agile or be fragile. #FootballCoaching
@lstoney7 Brilliant insight and so true. Quality over quantity.
It goes back to the saying โnot everything that can be counted counts and not everything that counts can be countedโ
Top visual @lstoney7 . This is so underrated. Instead of โalways call for the ballโ, letโs encourage our players to only call for the ball if:
1. In a better position than the ball player and/or teammates
2. Already have an idea of what theyโre going to do
@CoachPhilP Currently reading your book after your @power_ray webinar .
Half way in and picked a few ๐ก especially this for a current age group Iโm coaching.
@CoachPhilP A player with 25 purposeful touches can outperform a player with 80 pointless touches.
A player who tries to break lines and occasionally loses the ball is more valuable than a player who keeps it safe but never hurts the opposition. Data will say 1 player kept the ball more

The Coaches Post-Game Wind Downโฆ ๐ง โฝ๏ธ
A couple of weeks ago, one of my unbeaten youth teams faced another unbeaten side on their intimidating home turf.
We went 2-0 up inside 10 mins. The momentum then shifted rapidly...

This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, more relevant today than ever:
โThe answers youโre looking for are in the silences youโre avoiding.โ
Silence isnโt empty. Itโs where you allow your thoughts to bubble up and release.
