Kids are increasingly less competitive, despite “competing” all the time.
It’s because true competion has lost its zeal.
Why care about losing this “World” Series when we have 7 more on the calendar this summer alone?
The system is crushing true development in so many ways.

Mike at age 40 played all 82 games even though after every game black tar was being drained out of his knees. His salary was donated to 9/11 victims’ families.
Jordan was different, he actually CARED about the fans. Now we have divas making 50 million a year and load managing every game they can. Demanding for the season to be shortened 🤦🏻♂️
I am getting really tired of out-of-season coaches and clubs pressuring student athletes to participate in weekday practices or weekend tournaments while they are competing in in-season sports.
Let kids compete and be all-in during their season.
We had a successful first practice day with no cell phones ahead of the new law for next year. It was great seeing smiling faces and fun interactions in the hallways and at lunch! #GoMohawks
Happy Sunday!
Tomorrow's JHSB game at MCA will need to be rescheduled. Had a scheduling issue and will do all we can to make this game up!
The JHSB coaching staff will be letting the team know about practice ASAP.
Thank you! Apologies for the issues!
Maleah Williams with a third place finish and a new lifetime best of 42’2” in the shot put at today’s HSR INDOOR STATE FINALS!! Not bad for a freshman!! Congratulations Maleah!!
I’m pretty fed up with how unprofessional a lot of adults have become at work. People show up looking like they just rolled out of bed - no effort, no pride in how they present themselves. And it does matter. If a business lets employees look like that, why would anyone feel good about going there?
This starts way before the workplace. It starts at home and in schools. Somewhere along the line we stopped teaching that how you carry yourself in public actually means something. You don’t have to be dressed to the nines - but at least look like you care.
@TalkinOldSchool@CoachSwit I agree. IMO ALL high school team sports have declined. Individual sports like track/cross country/golf just keep getting better and breaking records.
The ruining of recreational sports is a significant issue in our current child mental health problem.
Kids need developmental spaces where parental driven competition isn’t front and center.
We traded true development for profits…
Jimmy Carr nails brutal parenting truth in 25 seconds:
"I want to be kind to my kids... but what they want is McDonald's, ice cream, TV, video games.
Downstream? Fat, stupid kids.
Who wants fat, stupid kids? No one.
So you have to be kind to their potential — not their immediate wants.
That means broccoli, homework, walks, exercise.
Boring now.
Kind later."
Short-term pleasure vs. long-term character.
The hardest "no" is often the deepest love.
Where do you draw the line between being "fun" and being truly kind to your kids' future selves?
