Extremely difficult news out of Rio Rancho HS:

Athletic director Sal Gonzales has lost his battle with cancer. Sal died Monday afternoon.

Not unexpected, but still, a complete gut punch. Sal was a terrific guy, and this will cut deep through the RRHS community.

It’s about damn time. It’s amazing to me. We are still able to get all Americans for the women’s track and field team to run at NMHU… I ran on that track from 2004 to 2009 and it was garbage then Highlands has been really lucky that Coach Devries makes it work.
