VAR is tricky to me. Does this sport need every possible call to be reviewed in real time like that? No I don’t think so. Personally anything in the box is where it should be used but… what do I know?
The thing is, at the end of the day, it wasn’t the right call or the right procedure to make the call. While suspending the card suspension is a little backwards logic it’s the correct thing to do. Now it does open up every VAR call to be put into question…
Personally think this is proof that VAR should probably only be used in goal scoring situations for soccer… anything in slow mo can look worse than it is in the speed of play.
BREAKING @TheAthleticFC
Folarin Balogun will be available to play the USMNT’s round of 16 match against Belgium with his one-game red-card ban suspended. Extraordinary development.

Still not over the BS red card on Balogun… incidental contact, he’s in front of the guy he can’t easily go for the ankle… if anything that’s a yellow. Messi did it seemingly on purpose and from the back and it was a no call then…?
Like yellow and red card rules aren’t like getting penalty’s and ejections in other sports. The substitution rules. The running clock, the stoppage time… like for new to the sport watchers that needs to be explained! Educate instead of make fun of Americans who don’t know.
I’ve seen some non Americans clown how the graphics on a broadcast look for the World Cup and how it seems like Americans don’t know enough about soccer but it’s not our main sport. The rules aren’t that similar to any other sport that’s popular here…
I mean this in the nicest possible way but why is the USWNT still holding on to Horan… I just don’t think she works well in the system they are trying to play
That Fever game last night was a rough watch… pulling players right when they are getting into a rhythm early 1st quarter is wild. Not adjusting anything is wild. Like no player could find their groove. They rightfully lost last night bc they got out coached.
