The idea of “if you can play they will find you”…..is one of the biggest fallacies that exists in recruiting. Yes, if you are HIGH level they will find you. But once you get past that….the waters become increasingly muddled with 100s and 100s of extremely similar athletes; both from a talent and academic perspective. After the initial few hundred….it is very similar and many are often “not found”.
💯
All of this. AAU basketball replaced having one "big" family vacation for us. Never got lost on the reality of our children amongst a big pool of talent. It was all to help them with their high school team. These were some of the greatest weekends, and not because of sports.
Travel sports:
- guaranteed family time every weekend
- tour the entire country, see the sights
- kids gain athletic skills and priceless memories
- chance at scholarships/NIL money
- kids stay out of trouble
- make friends with people in town
This is supposed to be “bad”?
@LanceSelzler No question. Phenomenal facility. You should Google the conflict between the developer (the AIA founder) and the City regarding property taxes. Interesting stuff. Enjoy, and good luck to Evalyn. Hopefully she's unguardable like she was against us!

Full endorsement from this coach to move away from Jamestown. Crowds may be bigger than expected since it's in a legitimate hosting city, so we'll see if they can fit everyone. But the atmosphere will be 🔥🔥.
The NDHSAA approved the new Bismarck State College Bavendick Center as the host site for the 2027 Class A Girls Basketball State Tournament
This will be the first tournament of this scale in the new facility, which will begin hosting games this fall

@MavsLaker I believe just under 2,200. But they only sold like ~1,850 tickets during the 2025 tourney. I'd imagine that will go up for two reasons. 1) It's in Bismarck and not Jamestown, and 2) It's realistic to go to BOTH the A and the B (Minot) on the same day whereas it wasn't before.
@ClydeSmith33324 Jamestown is definitely capable...they've proven that. But I think the hotel options are less than ideal and restaurant options are limited. To me, those are super important for State Tourney sites. The venue is solid, for sure. But it doesn't feel like a State Tourney, IMHO.
