I can’t definitively call Houston a “sports city”
I define a sports city as a city whose fans fill the Stans even when you absolutely suck.
The Astros had to sell family packs of tickets for like $50 for a family of 4 that included hot dogs when we were loosing 90-100 games a year. It was a jet 2 holiday in that stadium.
When the rockets stunk, we weren’t rushing to go watch them. Most recently the years we had Silas and was losing on purpose.
The Texans don’t have a great turnout when the team is ass and we don’t think there’s a chance.
EVERY college team in the city has an attendance problem football wise. UofH is doing better this year
We’re ALWAYS late to games. Halfway through the 4th qtr the stands are half full.
We definitely don’t fuck around when it comes to high school football though. And we will turn this bitch upside down when the comets get here next year.
But for the most part, a lot of Houston will watch from home when our teams aren’t that good. We also got a lot of other shit to do.
Enzo Maresca on why @BouaddiAyyoub didn't come on vs Aston Villa: "I think against PSG it was a bit different. I think today we needed technical midfielders, that's why Rayan [Cherki] was out and Phil [Foden] was inside. But no doubt Ayyoub is going to help us. Today Enz [Fernandez] and Elliot [Anderson] both had a very good game. And we have so many games that, for sure, he's going to play minutes..."
A 9-year-old boy was grabbed by a stranger, forced into a car, and driven away while selling water on the side of the road.
But as the car sped through the streets, the terrified little boy looked out the window and began waving desperately for help. What happened next was unbelievable.
It happened in Jacksonville, Florida. The boy had been selling bottled water near an intersection when a man suddenly forced him into a vehicle and took off.
Shameika Dowell, who knew the boy and was helping supervise the children, witnessed what happened. She jumped into her own vehicle with her son and took off after the suspect, refusing to let the little boy disappear.
As she followed the car through the streets, she could see the boy inside, frightened and crying for help. She kept chasing until the driver finally stopped, then moved to block his escape.
But the boy was still trapped inside. Shameika rushed toward the vehicle and began kicking at the passenger door, determined to get it open. Other bystanders rushed over to see what was happening and began helping. They kept going until she finally managed to force the door open and pull the little boy to safety.
Police arrested the suspected kidnapper, and the boy was reunited with his family. Despite everything he’d been through, he later said he still wanted to sell water so he could buy clothes for school.
Shameika Dowell refused to look away when a little boy needed help. Her courage deserves to be recognized. 💙
just so we're clear, what he's calling a mistake is his administration fighting against the release of the footage of police murdering a teenager who was walking away from them, after they tried to say they shot him 16 times because he was attacking them.
