J Cobb came to Bradley and our defense went from 11th in the league to first. The past two seasons, we have had one of the best defense in the MVC and three all conference guards. Time to get to work in The Heights!
Appreciate @usab3x3 for having me out as a Court Coach for the U23 Development Camp. Felt great to be back in my element both coaching talented young men and around the 3x3 game which I played for 11 years (7 National Championships). If only it was an Olympic sport in 2012!!
Straight from the horse’s mouth…. @AlvaradoJose15 had a GREAT college career and was still an underdog. But his passion, focus, ability to be coached, honesty with himself, drive to seize any opportunity…. I could go on and on w/ controllable traits.
The “sell your soul” press usually equates to a steal or a wide open dunk. Boeheim’s Syracuse teams were great at it. Of course all the twitter “gurus” claim they would’ve held it. In heat of moment, hard to avoid trying to hit wide open guy if you have space. Gotta contest tho.
@ChrisOney10 High level college basketball players and coaches don’t need anyone on twitter to defend them. I just know from experience (3-1 vs. ‘Cuse where they used it), that press is unique. Almost illogical. Until it works. Kid holds it and they tie him up, what are folks saying!?
@BubwickBill2024 As coaches we are charged with preparing young men for long term success. I spend most of my time thinking about this topic from a career advisory standpoint. So many former players (many Black) aspire to coach college hoops. Important to understand climate then go beat the odds!
@NCAA_HoopsGuru I am not talking about any specific situation at all. Just the numbers of outgoing vs. incoming. 17 of 39 outgoing. 4 of 25 spots filled as of now. Still 14 spots open, but was pointing out the large % decline. Not an indictment of any situation.
@tristan_sudbury@CoachJSmithTXST 17 of 39 open jobs thus far this cycle were. Only 1 of those 17 left for a bigger job. 3 of the 39 filled. 15 still open. My observation was not a judgement on any particular situation.
@NCAA_HoopsGuru My observation was not about me. Grateful for my shot. Proud of my time. Hard gig as evident by the record since my departure and before I got there with the exception of 2 or 3 years. But not impossible. Timing and luck helps.
