After trailing by 8 w/ 3min to play, @BCSDAthletics comes all the way back to win the Sec. 2 Class AA final 58-56 over Troy. This shot by Ella McCarthy will go down in history in Delmar, as it gives the Eagles their first title since 2015. Chills….

Congratulations Colin Pickering…Class CC Sectional Champion (190 lbs)!

[Frank Rossi @FrankRossi]

Kudos to the refs in the Duke/UNC game. They absolutely and consistently let the teams play in the 2nd half and did nothing to get in the way of the game or to sway it. Any High School section (paging @Sect2athletics) should force their officials to watch that game to show them the way to set the stage and boundaries early and to let the game be played through the remainder. After seeing many games lately of really inconsistent or unbalanced officiating, this game will stand out for a long time for me.

[FFCS Athletics @FFCSAthletics]

Congratulations Colin! Well deserved!

Ballston Spa 55
Beekmantown 37
Final

It took a half to wipe the crust from their eyes, but a big start to the 3rd was the juice Ballston Spa needed to blow away for a 2-0 weekend in the North Country. Avery Ostrander was hot from the jump & finished with 22, fellow freshman Dylan DeChant added 12. The Hagadorns combined for 23 for Beekmantown: Carly had 12, Olivia 11.

Section 2 Girls 🏀

Mohonasen 25
Ballston Spa 18
Half

I walked in a little late, and what I saw on the scoreboard was NOT what I bargained for. Mohon came out guns blazing on the HVCC floor - told a heavy dose of Payton Whipple & Emma Mullen with the hot hand - and it was 21-2 late q1 ‼️

But a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step… or maybe hitting a few shots. B Spa letting it fly from the arc, not many attempts going toward the rim, but Mohon cooled off & Avery Ostrander heated up. 3 threes in the last 2+ minutes of the half, and all of a sudden, Scotties within single digits

[Empire State Takeover @NYSTakeover]

Mohonasen 43
Ballston Spa 39
End q3

Dylan DeChant ➡️ Avery Ostrander ➡️ @AubreyKramer23 to beat the buzzer and all of a sudden, we have ourselves a game 😳

B Spa actually trimmed it all the way to 1 thanks in large part to Avery’s hot hand, but out of a Mohon timeout, they went through a stretch of inability to get stops. 12-2 surge in less than 3 minutes for Mohon… but now 7-0 in response for the Scotties. Back & forth we go
