‼️ THIS IS A REMINDER TO ALL HS BASKETBALL PLAYERS‼️ Summer is where you separate yourself. Stay disciplined. Get in the gym an hour a day. That’s all you need. You will separate yourself. Look at your screen time… you got an hour to spare.
DNH boys basketball is hosting a summer camp for youth entering grades 3-8! The camps will be June 8-10 at the high school and led by former Wolverine Colin Meester. 🏀

Toughness doesn't show up on the scoreboard, but it wins games:
- Sprinting the floor on every possession.
- Taking charges without hesitation.
- Fighting over every screen like your season depends on it. It's not flashy, but it's what separates good teams from championship ones.
A high school basketball team doesn't win championships on Game Day, it wins them at 6 AM practices, Friday night film sessions, and summer workouts when no one else is watching. Sweat equity pays off long before the scoreboard lights up. Put in the work when it's quiet.
Discipline is doing what needs to be done, even on the days you don't feel like it. Talent might make the highlight reel, but discipline writes championships.
Basketball isn’t just about skill—it’s about energy.
It’s about who brings the fire every single possession.
You don’t need to be the most talented player on the floor... but you better leave as the hardest working one.
Congratulations to our boys basketball student-athletes who received NICL All-Conference Team honors!

It's out there, so I'll tell it, too. Marty McKowen is retiring as head boys bkb coach at Wapsie Valley. 10th all-time with 670 wins and a state championship. 43 years. Saying he's a great guy is an understatement. Thanks for everything you did for kids, Coach. Cheers! #iahsbkb
Coaching your team to run a perfect fast break? That’s important.
Coaching them to handle adversity when life presses on them full-court?
That’s *everything*.
Steph Curry with a great message here about affecting the game, even when you don’t stat
“If it’s not your night stat wise, whether you play two, 10, 20 minutes, come with the right energy.”
A winner is a winner, no matter how many minutes they play
A mentor once told me: “You don’t need a dramatic turning point. You need to stack calm, steady weeks of keeping simple promises you make to yourself. Just do a few right things longer than everyone else is willing to. You'll be shocked how far that takes you."

10 players on the court
1 player has the ball
9 players don’t have the ball
The majority of the game will be played without the ball
In our trainer heavy, skill development world we live in…
More players than ever think their value is only in what they do when they have the ball
Defend, talk, Make extra pass, remind a teammate, anticipate & close off a drive, set a screen, do what winners do
Had a friend tell me once: "When you're feeling overwhelmed, there are only two things you should do––get organized and get to work. The rest is just noise. Peace is found in progress."
Some of the best advice I've ever received.
