TOTD: Allow yourself to be lead by great people, & in turn, lead others!
My life’s been transformed by the responses of a handful of the mentors in my life. So many of the chapters in my life story will read, “…& his/her response to this transformed my thinking & my future.”🙏

Great way to end our weekend at the @NABC1927 clinic. Had a very good conversation with @CoachKBBall@CoachKBBall about his program and the structure of their offense! Great time and lots of things to bring back to our program! #Always_US! 🟧⬛️
A high school basketball team doesn't have to be full of future D1 players to dominate. It just needs:
- Seven kids willing to defend like their lives depend on it.
- A leader who makes EVERYONE around them better.
- A coach who knows success is about culture, not schemes.
The best thing you'll listen to today is Utah Jazz Head Coach Will Hardy talking about the tax of being a leader:
🏋 Leadership is not a position you hold—it’s a responsibility you carry. The weight isn’t in the title, it’s in the people who trust you with their time, energy, and belief.
📊 Before metrics, before outcomes, before strategy—there are humans. Leadership is a human-to-human commitment to see, serve, and develop the people in front of you.
✊ There is a tax on leadership. And it's paid in consistency, in hard conversations, in choosing standards over comfort. You don’t get to clock out from being the example!
The cost is of being the head coach is real... but so is the impact on every life you’re responsible for. 🌱⏩🌳
Coach Cal’s right — administration matters. But at the high school level, it takes more than that.
You need administration that believes in you, coaches/players that are all in, parents that get involved in program, and a community that doesn’t just cheer on Friday nights… but financially supports the program too.
Great high school programs aren’t built by one person. They’re built when everybody is invested — with their time, their trust, and their resources.
If everybody isn’t rowing the boat in the same direction, don’t complain when the whole thing ends up spinning in circles.
To all players: NEVER be embarrassed or self-conscious about being an energetic, enthusiastic teammate!
Your classmates may think “Try Hards” are corny… but your employer promotes them! #Always_US!
Gritty. Gutsy. Tough. Whatever you want to call it, so proud of this group. But the job’s not finished. Championship game is next. Enjoy for a moment, then on to the next… #FlySparty#RepTheDBQ
I’ve NEVER felt pride for “being right” while coaching! I’ve only ever felt proud that I was able to foster trust in my players and got to see “my kids” succeed as a result! It’s one of the greatest joys in life!
