Hidetaka Miyazaki has apparently found inspiration for his games in a very unexpected place: other company executives.

After becoming president of FromSoftware in 2014, Miyazaki said his new position gave him “new experiences to draw from” because he was able to meet people he would not normally have met.

“They’re such weird people. I’m fascinated by them. I use some of them as enemy characters in our games.”

He has also explained that when designing characters and creatures, he is ultimately trying to create something “beautiful,” even if that beauty comes from something strange, tragic, or disturbing.
