Baseball is back this month!
I would love to take this occasion to share with you why baseball and Cerebral Palsy have a lot in common.
There are 3 things that stick out to me.
1. You have to experience failure so you can learn how to succeed. ( a .300 batting average is the “gold standard” for players, which means that they “fail” 7 of 10 times)
Same can be said for me when accomplishing daily tasks.
2. Everyone has their own way of doing things sometimes, unconventionally.
For example in baseball, let’s look at batting stances.
Some guys stand close to the plate, some guys stand back or further up in the box. Sometimes they change their approach depending on the day or situation. No one is exactly the same and your approach is what matters, not the way another person does it.
Same concept applies to me. I have to adjust based on the circumstances of the day and figure out what my body feels like, to put myself in the best position to succeed.
3. Nobody is going to do it for me. Yes, I have a skipper, in mom and dad, but it’s up to me to stand in my batters box and be prepared to handle whatever situation is thrown my way.
Thank you to the players and people who sacrifice so much, for me to have a blueprint to follow for conquering my challenges.
Let’s PLAY BALL
Tough day for our profession. Educators and Coaches. Be thankful joyous and love our kids a little more. In the face of evil, our only way forward is the good in each of us to push through. We will mourn but we will show our GOOD and LOVE to defy EVIL. Kids deserve it.
Tracy Ham revolutionized the @GSAthletics_FB offensive game. He chose @GeorgiaSouthern to showcase his QB skills and performed so well that the offense took on the name “Hambone”. Ham was the first collegiate player to run for 3,000 yards and pass for 5,000 yards. #HailSouthern
One of the most decorated players in college football history, @GSAthletics_FB’s Adrian Peterson remains the all-time leading rusher in Division I (FBS and FCS) history with 6,559 yards. The @cfbhall running back is the only sophomore to ever win the Walter Payton Award as the FCS Player of the Year. #HailSouthern #CollegeFootball #CFBHall #AdrianPeterson
Q Tackle Trap to the house.. end-zone view looks like a tight front (1/2i's techs) - O-line collapses it and the Tackle kicks out the backer, huge hole.
this camp is absolutely incredible! take a minute to see how these young men learn the fundamentals of football on and off the field led by Laurel native and former NFL safety @Da_DREAM47
