Competing when you are in the race or have a shot is easy.
Being a true competitor is being able to put out the same effort even when you are losing, and there's little hope of a victory.

And watch the sidelines. See how a coach interacts with the athletes after a race. Do they support the athletes, even when they fail? Are they getting coached up?
