AVID 11 students at Lewis were able to present at the Lewis Leadership Exhibition of Learning today. Students are creating a service project to Arcadia Farms to learn about sustainability and others are creating county lessons from the book "Black Communities of Fairfax County"
I had a great weekend in Philadelphia for the @TeachAmHistory conference on "How Congress Began". It was great to learn so much and to see so many sites where American history was made.
I was able to chaperone one of my favorite field trips today, the IB Anthropology trip to Lancaster, PA to learn about the Amish community. Students always enjoy this trip too.
Congratulations to our FIRST Faculty Athlete of the Month, Mr. Verloop! He is a marathon runner and pickleball athlete outside of teaching our Lancers Social Studies. If you see him in the halls, tell him congrats!
It was great to have someone from @NASAGoddard come to AVID class today to talk about different types of engineering and careers in NASA. The students also enjoyed seeing a small satellite up close.
It was great to have former AVID students come to class today to talk about their transition to college with current AVID students. I always enjoy seeing how well my former students are doing and they're enthusiasm to share what they have learned.

A little late posting, but last week I had the opportunity to take my World History students to the @walters_museum . They loved all the artifacts, in particular the sections on Greece and Egypt. It was great to see their enthusiasm for history and art.
On a recent trip to Baltimore, @LewisLancers AVID students had a chance to visit Johns Hopkins University. Thank you @JohnsHopkins for the hospitality.
