Rant:
I went to Charlie’s middle school track meet last week. No team scores. Individual results were posted (privately) online 3 days later. Kids were thrown into lanes without any thought of competition. Long breaks between each heat and longer breaks between events.
(1/?)
Coaches, officials, administrators, and parents need to figure this out. In hockey, parents are asked to keep score and run the scoreboard. Track can do that too. It can be a fun sport to watch (and play) if everyone knows what’s going on. This sport matters as much as the rest.
Why would anyone stay with the sport? They’re told by administration that it’s just for “fun” and not a real competition. Why is competition too stressful for a track athlete but not any other sport? Too costly to use the scoreboard for track, but not baseball?
Steve Cooksey’s (former Navy Head TF Coach)passing has left a tremendous void in our coaching profession. Steve represented everything that is positive in collegiate athletics. He and Cantello were a great team for many years. Rest in peace.
Jarmo HAD to make moves or this would have been Kevyn Adams' team. And that would be pretty embarrassing when they win the cup. Unfortunately, the guys he added are not worthy of the starting lineup (other than Carrick).
