Never say "Thanks coach!" when you get an offer.
It feels right. It's also the fastest way to celebrate an offer that was never really on the table.
Here's what to say instead:
*I am a D1 Coach*
• I see your film and like what I see
• I DM you and ask for your most recent transcript
• You tell me you don't have an updated one
• I find another recruit with equal skill and DM him asking the same thing
• He has his updated transcript & grades check out
• I call his Head Coach to verify his character
• I call him and Offer him
• He commits on the spot
• You lost a spot because you weren't prepared
Don't be that guy! ALWAYS have an updated copy of your transcript (Get a new one after EVERY Semester)!

The journey continues… I’ve decided to take the next step and transfer to Rappahannock High School. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I’m ready to keep growing as a player and a person. Excited for this opportunity and everything ahead. Let’s work. 🏈⏳@CoachF_6@Coach_BFaunt@CoachMNewton@rappfootball
Filter #4: GPA minimums
Below 2.5 GPA:
• Most schools won't consider
• Limits options
• Makes you ineligible for academic scholarships
Below 2.2 GPA:
Ineligible for any scholarships
GPA matters more than most athletes think.
How to beat Filter #3:
Front-load your highlight:
Play 1: Your best play (most explosive)
Play 2: Best technique play
Play 3: Best athleticism play
Play 4-5: Consistent execution
Save good-but-not-great plays for minute 2-3.
Hooks must be elite.
Filter #3: The first 5 plays
Your highlight is 6 minutes.
Coaches watch 30 seconds.
If plays 1-5 aren't elite, they're done.
They're evaluating 50+ athletes today.
You get 5 plays to prove you're worth continuing.
How to beat Filter #2:
Complete Twitter bio must include:
• Position
• Grad year
• Height/weight
• GPA
• Hudl link
Pin your best highlight.
Post minimum 2x monthly (ideally weekly or even more).
Simple.
Most athletes don't do it.
Filter #2: Profile completeness
Coach looks at your Twitter:
Missing bio info → Eliminated
No Hudl link → Eliminated
Last post from 3 months ago → Eliminated
Takes 10 minutes to fix.
Most athletes never do it.
How to beat Filter #1:
If you don't meet measurables:
• Be EXCEPTIONAL elsewhere (4.4 speed as undersized WR)
• Target schools one level down (D2 if you don't meet D1 size)
• Highlight what makes up for size (explosiveness, technique)
Can't change your height.
Can change your target list.
Filter #1: Measurables
"We don't look at tight ends shorter than 6'3""
If you're 6'1" at TE, you're crossed off immediately.
Doesn't matter how good your film is.
The filter eliminates you before evaluation.
