Head Women's Soccer Coach at Daemen University
To change the world, it starts with one step, however small, first step is hardest of all
Be kind to one another
Seinfeld episode 2026: Jerry gets tickets courtside and brings George, who decides, with the Knicks down 20 with 10 minutes left, he will leave the game early to beat the rush out of MSG.
As the Knicks mount a comeback he tries to get back into the Garden. He waves his ticket, name drops James Dolan, but nothing works and he ends up getting arrested.
Meantime, Kramer sneaks into the Garden and helps Mike Brown draw up the game winning play.
I saw something at a coffee shop a few years ago that I still think about.
A teenager was working the register. Couldn't have been older than sixteen. Customer placed an order. Kid entered something wrong.
Simple mistake. Happens a hundred times a day.
But the customer completely lost it. Started raising his voice.
Calling the kid stupid. Incompetent.
Acting like the world had ended over a cup of coffee. The kid kept apologizing. Face turning red. Hands shaking.
You could tell he was trying not to cry.
Then the manager walked over.
I assumed she'd do what most managers do.
Apologize. Offer a refund. Try to keep the customer happy.
Instead she looked him straight in the eye and said,
"You need to leave."
The entire shop went quiet.
The customer laughed like he'd misheard her.
"Excuse me?" She didn't move. "You heard me. Leave."
He pointed at the kid. "He messed up my order."
The manager nodded. "Yes.
He's sixteen years old and it's his second week here.
🚨 Landon Donovan didn’t hold back on the state of U.S. soccer:
“2002 World Cup is the furthest the men have ever been… we have only won one knockout game in our history. That’s pretty alarming. We’re not developing players like the rest of the world.”
“The bigger problem is our youth soccer in this country is a disaster… It’s all about winning. The kids get left behind because the clubs want to make money, the coaches want to make money… and the kids don’t develop.”
On the post-16/17 pathway:
“If you’re 16, 17 and you haven’t made it, you kind of fall into this abyss.”
His bottom line:
“I want to give the game back to kids.”

As one of our alumni made famous within our program a few years ago, her game day quote was:
“Day by Day.”
You’re going to have good days.
You’re going to have bad days.
But no matter what, it’s always:
Day. By. Day.
A gentle reminder for anyone who needs to hear it today: your journey doesn’t have to look perfect to be meaningful. 🩹🌼
We often look at growth as a steady climb upward, but real life includes pauses, setbacks, and quiet days. Having a hard day or feeling tired doesn’t erase all the amazing progress you’ve already made. Resting isn't quitting; it’s an essential part of blooming.
Be incredibly kind to yourself today. No matter what stage of the process you are in, you are doing great, and you are entirely enough just as you are. 🤍
