These two squads are a combined (16-4) at the break! Our Lady Wildcats will compete in the Coles County Holiday Tournament over break and our Wildcats will head to the Taylorville Holiday Tournament after Christmas!🔥🎅🏼🎄🏀
@NestoHoops Final factoid from the ‘77 season - it was the 5th straight & 6th out of 7 the Deep South representative at State came from the southeastern most regional. Ridgway in 73-74, Eldorado 75-77, and my Carrier Mills Wildcats in 79.
@NestoHoops Another factoid from the 1977 season, Saline County had 2 of the top scorers in the state as well as All-Staters in Eldorado’s Duff & Carrier Mills’ Dean Taborn.
@NestoHoops That Meridian team “upset” the Mike Duff and Eddie Lane led Eldorado in the finals of the EHT. Eldorado went on to finish 3rd in the Class A State Tourney. If I’m not mistaken, the Eagles lost to Madison for the 2nd time that season in the semis.
Dawn Staley went 109-3 in 3 seasons. She led her team to an undefeated record & a Natty this year. There shouldn’t be any other articles or discussions about the losing team. It should be about the CHAMPIONS!!!! But her or SC don’t bring the views, I get it.
@amiahhargrove22@HuskerWBB It was a pleasure coaching against you. Not often a coach from southern Illinois can say they had to game plan for an All American. Best of luck to you!!
Illinois Basketball Fact: Charles "Chico" Vaughn became the highest scorer in Illinois High School Boys Basketball History tallying 3,358 points during his career at Egyptian High School in Tamms. He played there from 1954-58. His scoring record still stands today.
