2/ That means building force prod and mvmnt comp thru compound lifts, creating tolerance to tension + ROM, and layering in interventions for sport-specific tissue/mvmnt demands (shoulders, hips, spine, etc).
All with adptble volume + intensity based on the athlete in front of U
1/ “Ideal training” doesn’t really exist in modern youth sports. The environment is too chaotic, specialized, and volume-heavy for rigid models.
Athletes need exposure to fundamental elements of athletic development while adapting to the demands already placed on them year-round
Don’t wait until high school to get in the gym, it’s a great setting to learn. All that changes from phase to phase is the focus/intent. You’ll be 10 steps ahead of your peers
Pre puberty is a great time to begin exposure to basic movement patterns in the weight room and exploratory jumps and movement problems. Let them develop some feel and coordinate their limbs so when their bodies start going through big changes they have something to refer back to
Once those natural steroids (pubertal hormone waves/spikes) hit and they have basic patterns down, they can reap the benefits of knowing how to move well

Stop changing things that are working!
@BrendanThompsn 👀 people posting how this info is from a Russian graphic has gone unquestioned for years and athletes regularly run faster after time off as an excuse to ignore that graphic. But for field sports athletes that time off/weekend off is similar in effect to a mini taper. Thoughts?
