The older I get as a coach, the more I realize most of us are looking for answers in the wrong places. In reality, most games are won by the teams that block & tackle better, communicate better, & make fewer mistakes in all 3 phases. Ive easily spent 1000’s of hours studying football, & the answer always comes back to doing the simple things at an elite level
This is beautifully written. Click on link. It explains commitment to simplicity and the maturity to stay the course. You don’t win with plays you win with systems & fundamentals. Great teams fly off the ball and play to their rules. DONT think. When you think… you die.
The Slot-T Mafia is Texas football’s best-kept secret—an old-school, smashmouth offense built on precision, misdirection, and brotherhood. For decades, it’s carved up defenses and delivered playoff runs. You can’t Google it. You have to live it.
“Sometimes coaches brag about having 20, 30 years of experience but if all you did was the same thing every year and never learned or grew — all you have is 1 year experience repeated 30 times”

This is the Slot-T as it is actually taught and lived.
Not plays. Not pieces. A complete order of football.
Coach Paul Kilby breaks down the full system. How it is installed, practiced, adjusted, and sustained. Built for real rosters and real Friday nights.
For coaches who want structure, discipline, and an identity they can stand on.
Enter the system.
Changing systems isn’t about new plays.
It’s about new language, new standards, and staff alignment.
On this episode of Slot-T Mafia, @coachtwheeler and @Coach_Kepa break down @LHSRamFootball's transition from Wing-T to Slot-T—what worked, what didn’t, and why patience mattered more than Friday-night results.
If you’re considering a system change, this one’s worth a listen.

Richard Sherman asked Mike Vrabel about the Pats defense and taking some other team's castoffs and "breathing new life into them"
Vrabel: "Well it's a testament to them ... They take the coaching, they take the hard coaching, they take the constant coaching. We tell them we're going to coach the hell out of them Monday-Saturday, then Sunday is their day to go play and let it loose and they have. We have a lot of guys that have taken advantage of opportunities, when you do that you earn more opportunities. We got great leadership at all 3 levels of the defense, I'm proud the way their play. Sometimes we give up the first drive of the game, then we go 3 & out for 6 more series, so they learn quickly and adjust."
