Really proud of Abby as she competed at the AAU national dual tournament on the allstar team. They finished 6/30 teams from around the country. She finished 3-5 and although she would have liked to have won more matches, she went toe to toe with some of the best in the country.
This season has been a crazy blessing getting to coach my daughter and watching her grow soooo much as a wrestler. Still work to do but 42-2, 5th in the state and 197 takedowns is a pretty good sophomore year.
I love you Abby and am so proud of you.
Kade got himself a win this morning at the state tournament, but in the end, he and Coles' seasons came to an end today. Congrats to them on great seasons.
Abby was able to work her way back into medal contention today with a win this morning and another tonight. Congrats to her.
So proud of this girl! She just keeps working hard and has been able to conquer every obstacle so far this season. Definitely some hard fought wins today. Moving on to the state tournament as the district 4 champ, 38-0.
Swede wrestlers have had a good couple of days. Friday, the boys earned 3rd place the McCook duals with Carter K, Lucas, Kade and Cole going 4-1 or better.
On Saturday, Abby and Emma wrestled at Amherst, and both won gold medals finishing 6th out of 26 teams.
The boys' day started rough with 3 guys not making weight but at least the day only went up from there. Lots of tough battles and we came away with 5 conference medals in a tough SWC invite.
Garrett 4th
Cole 3rd
Braiden 3rd
Harlan 3rd
Lucas 1st
It was a bitter sweet day as Abby earned the opportunity to continue her season at the district tournament next week. But we hurt for Payton, Emma and Swaisen as their seasons came to and end. They fought hard to the end and we are proud of them.
So much thanks to Emma for your dedication to the girls wrestling program. You've been there from the beginning. 44 wins, 38 pins and many many great memories. She was an original member of the first girls team and saw it all the way through. So proud of her.
Great thanks to Landmark Implement for donating the gun safe for our wrestling team to raffle off. It is amazing to have the support of a great local business for our wrestling program.
And Congratulations to Randy Wortman for being the lucky winner.
Abby broke the school record for takedowns in a season today with this takedown on the edge. She also leads the entire state this season for takedowns. This girl is on a mission!
I am so proud of Abby and her determination to continue to get better every time she steps on the mat to wrestle! She just keeps taking down the girls ranked above her one at a time. Tonight was #4. She is now 29-0 and only 6 points scored against her all season. Keep believing!
Today has been a very heavy and strange day for me as some of the kids from my FFA chapter headed out for Indianapolis, and for the first time in a decade I didn't get to take them. There are so many emotions that I can't put into words.
