Before the Air Raid became the Air Raid, Hal Mumme needed an OL coach at Iowa Wesleyan.
Then a rรฉsumรฉ from a BYU graduate crossed his desk.
That coach was Mike Leach.
Two great football minds at the beginning of something that would change the game.

@coach_salmander This reminds me of the time that a former FBS HC/Now NFL RB Coach tried to argue with me that wrestling doesn't make better football players. ๐คฃ

๐งตSince 2020 it was my dream to one day be the head coach of the Houston Roughnecks. I talked to Frankie Gansz about it every year. He was going to be my first hire and full circle moment when June hired Senior at his first pro head job with the Falcons to set the culture. It
#Bears HC Ben Johnson said WRs coach Antwaan Randle El called the plays in the second half vs. the #Browns today when Chicago scored 24 points and put up 235 yards of offense.
"I think he's got a chance to be an OC in this league. I think he's got a chance to be a head coach in this league,โ Ben Johnson said.

Everyone is looking for the next winning edge.
Dan Lanning found one most coaches still treat like fluff:
Connection.
Watch Oregon warm up, and youโll see it. Lanning is moving player to player. High five, fist bump, quick word, real eye contact. Nothing long. Nothing dramatic. Just small deposits over and over.
That is social and emotional learning in real life.
Not a worksheet. Not a buzzword.
A culture where players feel seen before they are asked to give everything.
Steve Nash understood this too. Researchers once studied NBA teams and found that the teams with more teammate touch, high fives, fist bumps, and huddles showed more cooperation and performed better later in the season.
That stuff matters.
Because football seasons are long. Pressure hits. Losing happens. Injuries happen.
Adversity shows up.
And when it does, talent is not the only thing holding a team together.
Connection is.
The best coaches do not just demand the standard.
They model it.
@Brady12Clark Hmm. Probably not. It would likely end my NBA watching days I think. It has nothing to do with the players. The historic franchise and team I root for would be dead. No thank you for watching them somewhere else.
The only place I can think of is like St Louis. But it really doesn't make sense to move away from Portland for "business" reasons. Our fans pack the arena and care more than majority of the league even if Portland itself is "lacking business potential". Dude just needs to sell the team at this point....leaving Portland would kill the franchise imo.
โWe donโt run a hype machine up here in the Midwestโฆ when we fall short we donโt cry a river and whine and complain. And thatโs why weโre the bestโ
Curt Cignetti ended his first media day as a national champion with some shots fired at the SEC
This Is Football with Curt Cignetti is all time.
I asked him how he came up with his practice philosophy of far shorter practices than most teams.
"I don't like people wasting my time but I'm also very organized." Every coach should watch this:
Aaron Rodgers believes quarterbacks need to throw more incompletions in practice:
โThatโs where you grow. You have to put yourself in the most adverse situations.โ
โWhen coaches or players are more concerned about what it looks like than how it feels, itโs really hard to grow.โ
โYouโre just hoping for perfect passes in practice.โ Instead, it should be, โOh, you missed that one?โ Perfect.โ
โThatโs exactly what you want. Now you have a feeling. I was a little too far onto my front foot. My hitch was a little too much. I need more weight on my back foot. I need to put more air on this ball when itโs 25 yards outside the numbers.โ
โWorking with young quarterbacks, I tell them, โThatโs the best rep possible.โ Remember that one.โ
โSo when it comes up next time, you can make the right throw.โ
Nick Saban provides #Arkansas HC Ryan Silverfield with some advice:
โWhen I went to Alabama, they kept telling me thatโs the way weโve always done it. And I finally said, if you say that one more time youโre fired.โ
