On this #MartinLutherKingDay, we recognize both Dr. King’s fight for Black voting rights and the fact that voting rights for many Americans have been difficult to attain.
“Give us the ballot!” Dr. King famously said in 1957, and yet voter suppression remains prevalent today.

“Off-year” local and state elections may not have the hype of presidential elections, but they often directly affect the issues you care about most at the ground level. Make a plan and go to the polls today if you haven’t yet voted.

The Virginia governor’s race is the most closely watched state election in 2021. Governor Northam (D) is ineligible to run for re-election due to VA term limits.
The two candidates are former governor Terry McAuliffe (D) and businessman Glenn Youngkin (R).
