BREAKING: The AMERICAN EAGLE roller coaster will RACE ONCE AGAIN at Six Flags Great America for the first time in nearly a decade.
The park announced that EAGLE will race during the park’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, which is happening from June 20-August 9.
The classic wooden roller coaster opened in 1981 with a red train and blue train racing side by side. It is the tallest, fastest, and longest racing wooden roller coaster in the world.
@SFGreat_America opened to the public 50 years ago today - May 29, 1976. In honor of the big day, the park is handing out party hats and some treats. There will be a fireworks show at 9:30pm.

@NegativeGcom It’s actually freaking amazing. The station was blasted underground into rock and all at rack faces are exposed with beautiful uplighting. I describe it as a brutalist naturalist look it’s pretty cool.
@ThemeParkWW In my opinion, I thought it was really cool considering the station was blasted into rock and they left the rock exposed…. combine that with the station pass-through….so cool
