Because some places are not only destinations but also feelings.

There was a period when Uganda was widely regarded as one of East Africa’s leading tourism destinations, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s, before the political instability of the 1970s.
Uganda had a well-developed tourism industry, attracting visitors from Europe, North America, and other parts of Africa.
The industry declined sharply during the regimes of Idi Amin (1971–1979) and the years of conflict that followed. Wildlife populations fell, hotels deteriorated, and international visitor numbers collapsed.
Today, Uganda through @TourismBoardUg & @ugwildlife has rebuilt much of its tourism industry and is internationally recognized for experiences

It’s only in Uganda where someone can spend UGX 1 million in a bar in one night, then complain that a UGX 25,000 park entrance fee is too expensive.
I genuinely believe financial literacy should be taught as a subject at some stage from nursery to university of our education. Understanding the difference between spending, investing, and creating value would help many people make better financial decisions.
Sometimes it’s not about how much money we have it’s about what we choose to value.
Domestic Flights as a Key Part of Growing Uganda’s Tourism
This evening, we had a productive meeting with the directors and staff of Asante Aviation (@fly_asante ) at the airport.
From my recent benchmark trip to Tanzania, one thing became very clear: if we are serious about growing tourism, we must strengthen domestic air travel. This can only happen through better partnerships, competitive discounts on domestic flights, and encouraging more investment in the sector.
A 13-hour road journey to Bwindi, followed by an early morning gorilla trek, can be exhausting for many travelers. Domestic flights offer a faster, more comfortable alternative and help visitors maximize their experience in Uganda.
We discussed several opportunities and are pleased to see that their rates are already highly subsidized. We look forward to further discussions and will continue sharing this information with the public.
Flying should not be a dream. With @fly_asante , getting to Uganda’s tourism destinations can be surprisingly affordable.
So, how many of you are ready to fly to Kasese for the Rwenzori Marathon ( @RwenzoriMarathn) ?
