In case the post below comes across as a vendetta against Boots... it really isn't, that just happened to be where I went for my lunchtime sandwich because, in general, I like Boots.
I surveyed M&S, Sainsbury's and the Co-Op as well today and it's a similar story with all of their sandwiches (as you'd expect, since the government is forcing all the big flour producers to add folic acid to all non-wholemeal flour).
It's hard to find any ready made sandwiches made with wholemeal bread now, most of it seems to be "malted bread" and, with the exception of one particular sandwich in Sainsbury's, all malted bread seems to contain folic acid.
I did also find one selection of sandwiches in M&S which didn't mention Folic Acid, and a few white bread sandwiches in the Co-Op, but I suspect those particular products haven't caught up with the legislation yet, since December 2026 is the official implementation date.
Strangely, one M&S "gluten-free" sandwich lists folic acid in the ingredients too. So people on a GF diet may also struggle to avoid folic acid.
So overall, if you are in the habit of buying ready-made sandwiches and want to avoid folic acid, you're going to have a struggle ahead. 😬

SHE FILED 181 REPORTS. POLICE TOLD HER THE CHILDREN WERE NOT RELIABLE WITNESSES..
Sara Rowbotham was an @NHS sexual health coordinator in Rochdale. From 2004, she started documenting what everyone with the authority to act had decided not to see. Girls as young as 13. Groomed, trafficked, and raped by groups of men. She wrote it all down and reported it.
181 referrals to Greater Manchester Police and social services between 2004 and 2011.
The answer was always the same. The girls were not credible witnesses. Not their problem. Move along.
Nine men were eventually convicted in 2012, but only because a new chief prosecutor arrived, read the evidence Sara had spent years building, and actually did something with it. The Crown Prosecution Service had previously dropped the case entirely. Sara had been right all along.
Then the system turned on her. She was blamed.
Accused of failing to refer cases properly. The institution that had ignored 181 reports about the rape of children decided the problem was the woman who filed them.
Primetime television did what 181 referrals could not. Three Girls aired on BBC One in 2017. Maxine Peake played Sara. The public was furious. A drama series achieved what seven years of documented evidence never could.
In January 2024, a damning 173-page independent review commissioned by Mayor Andy Burnham confirmed what Sara and fellow whistleblower Maggie Oliver @MaggieOliverUK had been saying for twenty years.
They were the only people raising the alarm while GMP and Rochdale Council looked the other way. The review found 74 children who were exploited, serious failures to protect 48 of them, and 96 men still considered a current risk to children.
As of late 2025, 61 men have been convicted across multiple investigations. Combined sentences total almost 630 years.
Sara received an MBE in 2021. The officers who ignored her 181 reports got their pensions.
Two decades of raising the alarm. A BBC drama, a 173-page review, and an MBE later, the abusers were still being found.

🚨NEWS: A protest against King Charles III decision to change the monarchs role to defend multiple faiths has been scheduled Friday 3rd July, outside Windsor Castle
Protestors cite the monarchs lack of honour and promotion of Islam among their main issues
@NHSNotts
Haven’t had acknowledgement of this Dr Shermar (or your solicitors @brownejacobson).
Believe you are also behind on the promised timescale for completion of this disciplinary process?
Perhaps time for an FOI into how much this process is costing the taxpayer in legal costs and counsel???
You couldn’t make this up.
Can’t use the wind turbines when it’s too windy. Can’t use the solar panels when they’re overheating in the sun. Yet we’re covering 20,000 acres of Norfolk’s productive farmland with them.
The absolute state of it. 🤦🏻
Victory for common sense (for now, at least)…
It’s a relief that @EnvAgency have finally realised that prosecuting volunteers for cleaning & restoring a river (that they had left to rot) without permission was not a good look, so they have dropped their charges in favour of a ‘warning’. Thank you for all your support & encouragement, from across the country, the political spectrum & around the world. I’m certain that the comms disaster suffered by the EA over this was crucial in getting them to begin to see sense at last.
This is, however, not the end of the story. The River Roding & its tributaries, like most rivers in the UK have still been abandoned & in parts left to die by the Environment Agency, with no plans to even put a stop to the serious environmental crimes taking place (like illegal sewage dumping), let alone to begin the process of restoration that the river so desperately needs.
I am therefore seeking a meeting with the EA’s Chief Executive to ask (1) that the EA instead use its prosecuting powers for good, to demand a detailed plan from Thames Water to fix all illegal sewage discharges in years, not decades & (2) that the EA turns this whole saga into a good outcome by using the River Roding as a pilot scheme for how the EA can work with, rather than against, grassroots river guardians, to provide the protection & restoration our rivers so desperately need.
I hope they will accept these very reasonable requests. But if not, I will continue to defy the EA, & will not be seeking their permission or authorisation to continue to care for & restore the river I love.
50 years ago UK saw 104F/40C. Met office have erased & adjusted data to make the past seem cooler, & put thermometers next to runways & in amongst acres of greenhouses at Kew gardens to make today seem warmer. But after 50 years of CO2 emissions it's still not as hot as 1976.
There is full air conditioning at this studio. You can see it on the roof. Remember people debating whether you 'deserve' air conditioning are only debating what you should have. Their comfort, their safety, is not up for discussion.
DOCTORS GAVE OLIVER MCGOWAN THE DRUG HIS FAMILY BANNED AND HE DIED
Oliver McGowan was 18. He had cerebral palsy, epilepsy and mild autism. He was a Paralympic hopeful who ran for Team Bath and ranked third in the country for disability 200 metres.
In October 2016 he was admitted to Southmead Hospital under North Bristol NHS Trust @NorthBristolNHS with uncontrolled seizures.
His parents told doctors in writing not to give him antipsychotic drugs. Oliver had reacted badly to them before. He had a hospital passport that said so.
Doctors gave him Olanzapine anyway. He developed Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, a known risk of that exact drug, suffered a catastrophic brain injury, and died on 11 November 2016.
In 2018 the inquest concluded the prescribing was properly carried out and the reaction could not have been predicted.
The doctor who prescribed it told the court she would do the same again, despite agreeing the family had been right all along. The family paid for their own legal representation. The Trust did not.
His mother Paula McGowan OBE @PaulaMc007 did not accept appropriate as the final word. She turned a death the system signed off on into a national petition, then a campaign, then law.
The Health and Care Act 2022 now legally requires every CQC @CareQualityComm registered provider in England to train staff on learning disability and autism.
NHS England @NHSEngland rolled the training out nationally, named after the boy it failed to protect.
So a coroner ruled nothing went wrong, and Parliament still had to force the entire health system to learn how to read a hospital passport.
Make that make sense.

Can someone explain to me who chose Andy Burnham to be British Prime Minister? He wasn’t even an MP. He was given a seat and being crowned immediately as PM. This is absolute proof that the electorate are of zero relevance in this country. Anyone who still believes Britain is a democracy is extremely naive.
Ed Davey wants to talk about Nigel Farage's money. Let's talk about yours, Ed.
You pocketed £250,000 as Post Office Minister while innocent postmasters were jailed. You cried in public when exposed. You called it "a day of shame" - but you kept the money.
You want to "fix our broken relationship with Europe"? Britain voted to leave. You lost. Get over it.
As your own replies remind you: "You pocketed £250,000 for jailing innocent post masters. You should go to jail alongside Venables."
Nigel Farage delivered Brexit. You delivered tears. We know who the country prefers.
Stay in your lane, sniveller.
Dear @EnvAgency.
In February this year, after 4 years of asking you to look after the Aldersbrook, I led a team of volunteers to do your job for you & clean out tonnes of silt & leaves, as well as hundreds of bags of rubbish. Through the effort of community volunteers & donations, & at zero cost to the taxpayer, we turned a forgotten silted up ditch back into a river again.
Last nights intense rain storm showed why our actions are the very definition of “strengthening water resilience”. A huge amount of rain fell in a short time, but the restored section of the Aldersbrook has been able to hold 100’s of thousands of litres more water, stopping this water running into the Roding, & thereby *reducing* local flood risk. The first photograph below is of the Aldersbrook after the rains this morning- a big contrast to the area before we did the work.
Perhaps more importantly, this water, instead of running straight off into the Roding & hence the sea is now being held in the Aldersbrook & gradually released so it can be used by nature. It is feeding marshes, trees & wildlife, topping up groundwater & helping to reduce our flood/drought cycle. If you want to strengthen water resilience, we need thousands more projects like the Aldersbrook around the country.
So the question I ask you, Environment Agency, is why you are threatening me with two years imprisonment, rather than offering to meet & discuss how we can work together to restore the Roding & its tributaries, which could become a blueprint for you cooperating with local river guardians nationwide?
🚨 This is pure evil.
A husband drugs his own wife so he and 12 other men can rape and abuse her for years. He just admitted to rape and multiple sexual assaults in court today.
But here’s the kicker: none of them can be named “for legal reasons.”
How does that even work?
The victim’s identity is shredded forever, her life destroyed, but the monsters who turned her into their shared toy get to hide behind anonymity? So the public can’t know if these animals live next door, work at our kids’ schools, or are walking free on bail?
This isn’t “justice.” This is the system protecting predators over victims - again.
If you’re sick enough to pimp out your unconscious wife to a pack of men, you forfeit every right to privacy. Name them. Shame them. Put their faces everywhere.
Britain has lost its mind.
What’s worse -the crime or the cover-up?
“The Nottingham attacks inquiry
What may prove to be the most consequential aspect of Sir Keir Starmer's legacy for Nottinghamshire was his decision to set up the Nottingham attacks inquiry.
Let's be clear, the overwhelming majority of the credit for this inquiry happening lies with the families left bereaved by Valdo Calocane's killings, whose tireless campaigning continues”

My fourth observation from the grooming gang report:
The NHS treated a 13-year-old rape victim for STIs including chlamydia in the throat and vagina, gonorrhoea, genital warts, and pelvic inflammatory disease, and later treated her again for injuries caused by gang rape, without ever once filing a safeguarding referral.
Our precious NHS, which this country treats like a second religion, is happy to lecture pregnant mothers that they are not women but “uterus havers” and “chest feeders”, yet repeatedly failed child rape victims right in front of them.
Britain is broken.

Shame on these damn Governments @theSNP@UKLabour ..
A damn disgrace .. all of them
The disgusting pro-Pals actually protested Maureen Lipman’s new play in Glasgow. They call her “Zionist Maureen Lipman”. This is nothing to do with what she’s said or done. It’s purely about her identity as a Jewish person who believes Israel should exist. They are racists.
