@mabithebard@theragebee@sheseviel I never knew that but at the same time Bon clay does identify as the gender they were born as but also the other gender.
@mabithebard@theragebee@sheseviel Also, I have no problem with people identifying with or interpreting a character a certain way. I'm just speaking from a canon perspective. As far as I'm aware, the character has never explicitly identified as trans, and based on everything I've seen in the series,-
@mabithebard@theragebee@sheseviel I could be mistaken, but isn’t there a scene in Impel Down where Ivankov offers to use his powers on Bon Clay, and Bon Clay declines because he’s happy with who he is and doesn’t want to change?
@mabithebard@theragebee@sheseviel I agree, but that doesn’t necessarily make them trans. Plenty of non-binary people don’t consider themselves trans. As I said, the character identifies as both genders rather than exclusively as one or the other.
@theragebee@sheseviel Oda has even suggested that Yamato will eventually need to move past this obsession and mistaken sense of identity in order to live a happier, healthier life.
@theragebee@sheseviel Yamato isn’t identifying as a man so much as identifying as Oden specifically. If Oden had been a fish-man, Yamato would probably insist they were a fish-man too. Whatever Oden was, that’s what Yamato wants to be.-
@theragebee@sheseviel Ivankov prefers to be both male and female, switching between genders whenever they choose, while Bon Clay identifies as both as well. Both characters also use male pronouns.
Forspoken was bad because of terrible writing and lame combat.
Santa Monica is known for their peak God of War writing, and we just saw 20 minutes of insanely good looking combat.
